Late last night, we fell asleep on the couch watching TV. When we woke up around 3 AM, there was a weird show playing - one of those old Twilight Limits or Outer Zone type programs where every episode is its own creepy short story. This one in particular was about a man who had woken up in an empty castle in the Middle Ages. He didn’t know why. No one was around to answer his question. It looked as though everyone who had lived there had abandoned it, run away for some mysterious, unnerving reason. As the man wandered through the chilly corridors of the deserted castle with nothing but his questions to light his way as the darkness fell, he started having flashes of something he couldn’t understand. It was a black box of some sort, looked like a device he had seen before. Could it be?Yes, it could. The man was having visions of the Cisco Nexus 3064 Switch, a compact 1-rack-unit (1RU) form factor switch that’s designed specifically to optimize office branch networks. It has line-rate Layer-2 and Layer-3 ultra-low latency switching on all of its 64 ports and a throughput of 1.2 terabits (Tbps) per second and 950 million packets per second (Mpps). The man realized that he wasn’t just having visions of the Cisco Nexus 3064 Switch - he was the Cisco Nexus 3064 Switch, dreaming and processing all of that data. (Actually, we fell back asleep, so it got a little foggy.)
